Welcomes and orients diverse museum visitors, modeling inclusivity for all front-line Museum staff
Sells tickets and merchandise; answers Tour Center phone, voicemail, and inboxes
Directs and supports Museum tour guides during their shifts
Handles visitor relations, including special requests, and acts as a liaison between visitors and administrative staff
Leads emergency response procedures for guides and visitors during Museum open hours
Contributes to fundraising activities through routine data collection processes, promotion of donor programs to visitors, and communication with the Museum’s development team
Records daily activities, notes, and service requests in the Tour Center Coordinator’s log
Builds out back-end ticketing for daily visitor experiences
Administers the Museum's free ticket programming, including library passes and Mass Card to Culture
With other team members, conceives of new shop merchandise; plans purchasing and sale strategies, orders and receives shop inventory; organizes merchandise displays and restocks shelves
Coordinates education programming, including handling group tour requests from inquiry through post-visit evaluation, and contributes to the development of new education programs, maintains teacher contacts in the CRM
Facilitates Studio Sessions and Mild Nights programs, staffs the Tour Center during designated public events, and assists with event set up and break down
De-dupes and cleans visitor data
Participates in hiring and training for new guides and educators
Designs seasonal guide staffing plans that are responsive to visitation patterns
Creates guide and educator schedules for daily tours and programs
High School diploma
3-5 years minimum related experience
Equivalent work experience in lieu of minimum education and related experience
Demonstrated interest in museum studies and/or desire to learn about Emily Dickinson
3 years of experience in customer service, visitor services, or museum work with demonstrated strong communication skills and commitment to creating welcoming environments within a diverse community
Proficient in Google Workspace
Demonstrated high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills
Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems
Successful CORI check result
Required reference and background checks
Familiarity with constituent relationship management systems such as Salesforce

Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Tour Center Coordinator position. The Tour Center Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position, starting at $21.78 per hour - commensurate with experience.
The Tour Center Coordinator facilitates the daily operation of the Emily Dickinson Museum's tour program to ensure excellent and welcoming visitor experiences for a diverse and growing audience. For half of each week, the Tour Center Coordinator is chiefly based in the Tour Center, which houses the ticket counter and the Museum shop. During open hours, the Tour Center Coordinator operates the desk and manages Museum Guides. The Tour Center Coordinator has program assignments for the other half of the week, which may change seasonally and include coordinating education group tours, creating guide schedules and back-end ticketing blocks, ordering shop merchandise, tracking inventory, and helping to develop new merchandise. The Tour Center Coordinator is a primary user of the Museum’s point-of-sale and constituent relationship management (CRM) system, and supports hiring and training of new front-line staff. The Tour Center Coordinator will also be trained as a tour guide, occasionally giving tours when needed, maintaining knowledge of current trends in Dickinson studies and museum best practices.
The Tour Center Coordinator is a full-time position, working five days per week, including at least one regular weekend day during the Museum's open season, March-December. The Tour Center Coordinator may be asked to work extra hours outside of their regular schedule to support group tours and public programs.
