To meet the needs of a growing department, the Department of Finance in the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business at Clemson University invites applicants for a Trading Room Director in the area of Finance. In collaboration with the Breazale Chair of Investments and Department Chair, oversee and direct the operations of the financial trading room, offering subject-matter expertise to users. Promote the trading room's use, actively engage students and faculty, and foster industry and alumni engagement. Perform other duties, as assigned.
60% - Essential - Engage with and assist Students and Faculty in the Trading Room: Serve as subject matter expert in regard to Bloomberg, and share this expertise with students and faculty. In conjunction with faculty, create exercises that foster familiarity with the room's equipment and software via in-person training sessions and development and maintenance of online training modules. Create assignments and projects based upon the trading room resources, and grade associated assignments. Collaborate with faculty on options related to professional certificate programs. Meet with and assist students in both one-on-one and group settings to both demonstrate and train in the use of trading room resources. Promote the use of the lab to faculty and finance groups. Create student job opportunities in trading room.
20% - Essential - Foster Industry and Alumni Engagement: Create opportunities for engagement with students through panels or guest speakers. Identify speakers and coordinate special events. Collaborate with department chair and faculty to create a lunch and learn series. Engage with industry (educational and professional) to identify best practices on trading room activities (utilization and associated curriculum) for potential implementation.
10% - Essential - Manage the Trading Room and Equipment: Monitor, schedule, and promote the trading room to ensure it is utilized. Maintain a posted schedule of class usage as well as available hours for student research and homework. Ensure equipment is running properly including computers, ticker, and wall monitors. Maintain data licenses and update software. Collaborate with IT resources, as needed, to ensure seamless operation.
10% - Essential - Community Engagement: Collaborate with individuals and groups interested in touring the trading room. Schedule and host tours. Plan and host financial literacy events for the community including a possible free basic Financial Literacy course. Identify opportunities to increase community engagement.
