Job Description

- Conducting studies and field investigations to determine needs of area or community and evaluate traffic conditions
- Designing layouts for transportation projects
- Serving as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction
- Maintaining records of findings and preparing reports
- Reviewing and approving plans for compliance with applicable rules, regulations, ordinances and laws, and engineering principles and standards
- Providing program oversight as the analyst meets, assigns, consults and assists contractors, engineers, government agencies and the general public using ordinances, laws, engineering principles and County regulations to resolve transportation issues
- Participating in meetings related to various projects
- Maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment
- Performing other duties of a similar nature or level.
- This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
- Associate degree AND
- Two years of traffic investigations, traffic operations/maintenance or related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid Driver's License
- Work Zone Traffic Safety certification (must be obtained within six months of hire/promotion date).
- Bachelor's degree preferred

This position will serve as one of two staff members who oversees the County’s residential traffic calming program. This position will manage the day-to-day for the department’s program. This division is also responsible for monitoring existing road conditions, maintaining traffic volume and traffic accident databases, analyzing reports, and making recommendations for corrective measures. The Traffic Analyst class is responsible for providing complex analyst work regarding traffic-related projects/issues. This position will work closely with internal and external partners to include other county departments and residents. Incumbents independently design layouts, investigate service requests and may serve as a lead to lower-level staff.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
