      Job summary

      Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP), 1 year fixed term Training Post

      3 x Band 4 CWP Training Posts

      Location- Tavistock Centre, Haringey schools and clinic sites in Haringey and remote working.

      We are delighted to announce 3 training CWP posts in our Haringey service. The role purpose is to provide early intervention to children and young people experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, especially those who do not meet the normal thresholds for CAMHS or will not engage with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

      Alongside working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice at University College London, you will work in clinic and school settings under the supervision of a CWP Supervisor, and there will be close links with the specialist multi-disciplinary CAMHS teams.

      To be shortlisted you will need to have a minimum of a second class university degree and previous experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties.

      Please note: This is a training position and so all candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with Tavistock and Portman and the UCL Child Wellbeing Practice Post Graduate Certificate in order to be shortlisted.

      Main duties of the job

      1. Assess and deliver, under supervision outcome focused, evidence-basedinterventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental healthdifficulties.1.2. Working in partnership, support children, young people experiencing mild tomoderate mental health difficulties and their families in the self-management ofpresenting difficulties.1.3. Work in partnership with children, young people and families in the development ofplans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.1.4. Support and empower children, young people and families to make informedchoices about the intervention.1.5. Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respectsdiversity.1.6. Accept referrals within agreed national and local protocols.

      About us

      The Tavistock and Portman Children Young People and Families (CYAF) Directorate is a thriving multidisciplinary service which offers clinical services in a range of settings including community clinics, schools and GP practices, and works closely with Haringey Local Authority provisions. The Tavistock has a national and international reputation as a training centre, and provides an excellent environment in which trainees can have successful and rewarding clinical placements.

      The training programme is part of the Children and Young Persons Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) London & South East Learning Collaborative. The overall aim of the CWP programme is to provide specific training in evidence-based treatment techniques that can be delivered within brief or low-intensity interventions for mild to moderate emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and young people.

      • A minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology)

      Desirable

      • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a specific psychological therapy
      • Psychology or other health /social care/youth related undergraduate degree
      • Other relevant postgraduate degree
