      We are recruiting motivated, dedicated and caring people with an eye for detail for the role of Trainee Dental Technician.

      This is a part time (30 hours per week) fixed term training course, based over 4 days and offers you the opportunity to train to become a highly valued member of the Dental Team, working alongside qualified dental technicians to produce a wide range of dental devices from a Dentists prescription.

      The post will commence on 15th July 2025 until 30th June 2028 and training will be undertaken in two teaching laboratories at Leeds Dental Institute, where you will be taught how to construct a range of dental appliances at Leeds Dental Institute under the supervision of qualified Dental Technician Tutors.

      As part of your training, you will go on work placement at commercial dental laboratories to gain wider, work-based learning experience.

      On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a BTEC Extended Diploma in Dental Technology, which will enable you to register as a Dental Care Professional with the General Dental Council (GDC).

      Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, to include English Language, Maths and a Science. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths are accepted.

      If your application is shortlisted you will be asked to attend an interview, a 1 hour practical assessment and a 30 minute written task

      Main duties of the job

      The jobholder will be undertaking a training programme within Leeds Dental Institute. The training will be delivered through formal education delivered by the School of Dental Care Professionals situated within Leeds Dental Institute.

      It is expected that the trainee will commit to self-directed study and successfully complete the training programme within the contract period.

      Under supervision the post holder will undertake routine technical duties, as directed, in the Dental Production Laboratory, working within departmental procedures and guidelines. Duties may include access to patient information, processing documentation, entering information onto the appropriate IT system and retrieving information as and when required, constructing a range of basic dental devices in tandem with their training programme.

      About us

      Leeds Dental Institute provides specialist treatments and advice following a referral from a dentist or doctor. This covers the full range of dental specialties, oral and maxillofacial surgery and oral medicine.

      Leeds Dental Institute provide routine dental treatments as part of dental undergraduate training. It also runs three outreach teaching centres in South Leeds, Bradford and Hull to provide dental care in the community, and trains the whole dental team.
