- Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems, following guidance from senior staff.
- Learn to troubleshoot common irrigation issues like leaks, clogs, and malfunctions.
- Gain experience with different irrigation methods, including sprinklers and drip systems.
- Perform basic repairs on sprinkler heads, valves, piping, and controllers.
- Learn water conservation techniques to reduce water usage while maintaining landscapes.
- Ensure all systems are installed and maintained according to guidelines and standards.
- Become familiar with basic landscaping tools used with irrigation systems.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Quickly learn new irrigation techniques and systems through on-the-job training.
- Collaborate with team members, landscapers, and managers to achieve results.
- Be flexible and take on additional tasks related to irrigation or general landscape maintenance as needed.
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
- A willingness to learn about irrigation, landscaping, and heavy equipment.
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
- Must obtain a Florida Class “B” Commercial Learner’s Permit within 6 months of hire.
- Must obtain a Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within 1 year of hire.
- Irrigation System Installation & Maintenance: Learn the step-by-step process of installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems, including sprinklers and drip systems.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Gain hands-on experience diagnosing and solving common irrigation issues such as leaks, blockages, and system malfunctions.
- Water Conservation Techniques: Learn effective water-saving methods that help maintain healthy landscapes while reducing water usage.
- Basic Repairs: Develop skills in performing basic repairs on irrigation system components, such as sprinkler heads, valves, piping, and controllers.
- Landscape Tools: Become proficient in using basic landscaping tools commonly used with irrigation systems.
- Outdoor Work Adaptability: Build the ability to work efficiently in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Learn to effectively collaborate with colleagues, landscapers, and managers to accomplish maintenance tasks and system installations.
- Adaptability: Stay open to learning and performing a variety of tasks related to irrigation systems or general landscape maintenance as needed.
- Understanding Standards: Gain an understanding of industry standards and guidelines to ensure irrigation systems are installed and maintained properly.
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
This entry-level position provides hands-on training and experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems for public facilities, parks, and landscapes. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop technical skills related to irrigation and landscape management. Under the guidance of senior staff, the Irrigation Systems Trainee will learn to troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems, assist with the installation of new systems, and ensure systems are running efficiently to support healthy landscaping and grounds.Education and Experience:
