Master of Pharmacy students who are due to start their final year of study in Autumn 2023 and would like to undertake a split industry-hospital Trainee Pharmacist Foundation Year starting in 2024!
Applicants should be legally authorised to work in the UK and have the appropriate work permit.

What can we offer you?
Trainee Pharmacist Foundation Year roles will be available in the North West, where Trainee Pharmacists will spend six months working in Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D) at AstraZeneca, Macclesfield, and six months based at Wythenshawe Hospital which is part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Trainee Pharmacists will spend 6 months at AstraZeneca and join one of the Product Development teams in PT&D and will be assigned a project to work on, often contributing towards an active development project. Opportunities will also be available to work with key departmental initiatives in areas compliance, or SHE which AstraZeneca value and hold to high standards. Finally the role provides a vibrant environment to make connection with fellow pharmacists across the campus and gain a wider insight into the pharmaceutical industry and the plethora of industry roles suited to pharmacists.
During the 6 months at Wythenshawe Hospital, Trainee Pharmacists will follow a structured training programme encompassing all areas of hospital pharmacy (aseptics, Medicines Information, dispensary services, and clinical pharmacy) as well as a variety of clinical specialties. There will be a community placement and a placement at Christie Hospital, a specialist cancer hospital. At the end of the placement trainees are allocated their own ward to cover under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Learning is supported throughout the Foundation year through a variety of regional, local and in-house study sessions. Trainees will be allocated a designated supervisor at each site, who will meet regularly with them to support their development and help them to meet the GPhC learning outcomes.
