      Job summary

This is a psychological therapy training role within the Outpatient Therapy Team within the Eating Disorders Service. This role is a 2-year fixed term appointment starting on the 15th January 2024, leading to a permanent Psychological Therapist post at the end of this period if the postgraduate diploma programme is completed successfully.

The postgraduate diploma and certificate programmes offered provide practitioners with the skills necessary to deliver high-quality CBT interventions to individuals experiencing severe mental health problems. These programmes are Level 2 accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) which means that graduates receive a recognised high-quality qualification allowing them to practice and deliver CBT.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

      Main duties of the job

To do 4 days of clinical work within our team and attend 1 day at university (University College London).

Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

To be responsible for implementing interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis.

To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.

Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

Study and clinical work relevant to the PGDip.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
