      These positions will be filled as either Trainer Treatment & Flood Protection or Senior Trainer Treatment & Flood Protection based on candidate qualifications. Salary ranges are as follows:
      Trainer: $52,603.20 - $78,873.60
      Senior Trainer: $65,478.40 - $100,692.80

      Trainer - Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Collaborates with MSD Training Team and MSD Operations to design, deliver, and coordinate training programs for MSD employees. While focus is upon employees within the Treatment, Collections and Flood Protection areas, also supports training initiatives in all areas of MSD. Supports the development of eLearning modules and LMS administration, eLearning courses, and employee certifications. Provides support to Human Resource and organizational initiatives.

      Senior Trainer Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Collaborates with Operations Division leadership to conduct ongoing training needs assessments. Designs and delivers training programs to support employee career advancement, division/department initiatives, and performance goals. While focus is upon employees within the Collections, Treatment and Flood Protection areas, also supports training initiatives in all areas of MSD. Regularly reviews Operations Division performance metrics and data to identify opportunities for enhancement of training programs. Collaborates with management to support effective integration of capital construction projects and new equipment purchases into day-to-day utilization by employees to meet performance and regulatory requirements. Designs and delivers training to new hires in all areas of the Operations Division.Trainer - Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Provides support to all aspects of MSD treatment, collections and flood protection training programs. Coordinates scheduling and delivery of training, including that provided by external sources. Participates in quarterly meetings with Operations Division management teams to assist with ongoing assessment, development, planning and delivery of training. Assists with LMS administration and eLearning course development. Supports employees with preparation for attainment of required licenses (wastewater, collections, CMRT, etc.) and accumulation and reporting of required CEU hours for renewal. Delivers training to new hires in all areas of Operations’ division to enable timely and effective onboarding. Schedules classes with supervisors for their employees. Maintains accurate training records in the MSD training database and provides employee training reports as requested. Participates in new hire orientation. Conducts or assists with applicant assessments. Attends external training to maintain subject expertise. Serves as a member of the flood pump station team. Performs other duties as assigned.


      Senior Trainer Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Develops, monitors and facilitates employee training for MSD wastewater treatment plant, collection system and flood protection employees, and supports training initiatives in all others areas as well. Facilitates quarterly meetings with Operations Division management to conduct ongoing assessment, development, planning, and delivery of training. Coordinates training provided by outside vendors; Assists with LMS administration and eLearning course development. Assists employees with preparation for attainment of required licenses (wastewater, collections, CMRT, etc.) and accumulation of required CEU hours for renewal. Advises employees and supervisors regarding employee career advancement. Collaborates with HR coordinator to determine employee qualifications for advancement. Designs and delivers training to new hires in all areas of the Operations Division to enable timely and effective onboarding. Serves as designated MSD representative responsible for Ky. Division of Water CEU approval and renewal for training related to MSD wastewater and collections license holders. Provides consultation to MSD Safety & Security, Legal, and Employee Relations Administration staff to assist with training related employee disciplinary processes and determinations. Maintains accurate training records in the MSD training database and provides employee training reports as requested. Participates in new hire orientation. Coordinates creation and retention of SOPs for critical functions. Provides guidance and training to new Training Department employees. Conducts or assists with applicant assessments. Attends external training to maintain subject expertise. Serves on the flood pump station team. Performs other duties as assigned.

      Trainer - Treatment & Flood Protection:

      Knowledge of adult learning principles and training design and delivery methods; knowledge of wastewater process methods and collection system operations; knowledge of relevant regulatory standards, including OSHA regulations; knowledge of LMS administration functions and eLearning development software; skill in utilizing sampling and other wastewater process tools and techniques; skill in formulating training outlines and determining instructional methods; skill in oral and written communication; skill in operating a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); skill in exercising tact and diplomacy; ability to provide career counseling for operations employees; ability to schedule and coordinate classroom and field training; ability to identify safety hazards and recommend solutions; ability to prioritize work effectively; ability to demonstrate presentation and public speaking skills; ability to climb and work in high places and confined spaces; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to maintain accurate and confidential records/information.


      Senior Trainer Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Knowledge of training development models and practices; knowledge of Kentucky Environmental Operator Certification regulations and processes; knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, practices, laws and regulations; knowledge of Clean Water Act, Kentucky Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and other local, State and federal regulations; knowledge of various codes and regulations (OSHA, NEC, etc.); knowledge of MSD policies and procedures; skill with group facilitation; skill in operating a PC and associated Microsoft software (eg. Microsoft Office Suite); skill in oral and written communication; skill in designing and delivering training programs to a diverse workforce; ability to promote a positive work environment; ability to establish and maintain a learning atmosphere and adapt to changing work environments; ability to perform logistics related to training delivery; ability to exercise judgment and discretion; ability to identify safety hazards and recommend solutions; ability to prioritize work effectively; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to direct the work of others; ability to maintain accurate and confidential records/information; ability to work in a team environment; ability to work under adverse working conditions such as inclement weather and under heavy, unpredictable surges in workload; ability to work outdoors, at night, shift work and overtime.Trainer - Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Associate degree in education, environmental science or a related field; three or more years of experience in wastewater treatment, collections, or related industry; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. One or more years of training experience preferred. Certification in a technical or environmental specialty program is preferred. A Wastewater and/or Collections License is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have safe work and driving habits.

      Senior Trainer Treatment & Flood Protection:
      Bachelor Degree in education, environmental science or a related field; four or more years of related training experience; two or more years of experience in wastewater treatment, collections, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have safe work and driving habits. A Kentucky Wastewater Operator or Collections License, Class II or higher is preferred.
