      Under the general supervision of the Strategic Services Manager, the Training Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the department safety program, coordinating department training, and aiding with career development processes for the Public Works Department. The role involves collaborating with key personnel, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring the effectiveness of training programs. Additionally, the coordinator provides direct support to leadership in a wide variety of daily operational and administrative duties including maintaining and updating files and databases, researching, organizing, and coordinating.

      The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties in this description and incumbent(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description. Essential Job Functions:
      • Meets regularly with the Public Works Strategic Services Manager and key personnel.
      • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with divisions and leadership.
      • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding all matters.
      • Coordinates training for all Public Works personnel and documents attendance.
      • In collaboration with Public Works leadership and Human Resources, coordinates department specific training.
      • Evaluates overall training effectiveness by assessing the transfer of learned information to job performance.
      • Recommends future training programs based on trends, feedback, and return on investment measures.
      • Develops a network of instructors, trainers, subject matter experts, and community partners for training initiatives.
      • Administers the department’s safety program, including safety training and education.
      • Collaborates and cross-trains with other Public Works employees.
      • Works with the Strategic Services Manger on accreditation requirements.

      Other Important Duties:
      • Represents department as assigned by supervisor.
      • May be required to work some evenings and weekends.
      • Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and training.
      • Communicates with supervisor(s) on issues that impact the operation of Public Works.
      • Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
      • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.
      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
      • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
      • Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
      • Skill in effective oral and written communications, including presentation, decision making, and intrapersonal skills.
      • Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and performing multiple clerical tasks.
      • Skill in following Public Works practices and procedures.
      • Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.

      Education, Experience, and Certifications:
      • Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field and two (2) years of advance general office or clerical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
      • Must possess valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
      Environmental Factors and Conditions:
      • Work is performed in an office environment.
