- Structure, negotiate and document major external transactions, often in partnership with business tax teams and outside counsel
- Supervise outside counsel with respect to tax opinions or IRS rulings
- Generate new ideas, e.g., tailoring acquisition and disposition techniques to GE’s facts and strategic priorities
- Lead major internal restructurings, e.g., those with significant financial statement impact
- Actively supervise junior colleagues, e.g., on transactional support, due diligence, compliance and reporting
- Advise businesses on important or uncertain technical tax positions arising in M&A transactions, and take responsibility for developing and maintaining Company-wide consistency in such matters
- Assist with tax strategy and planning opportunities for the various Aerospace business units
- Bachelor's Degree, Juris Doctorate, Masters of Taxation or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification
- Minimum 10 years of tax experience in major law firm or accounting firm with focus on transactional tax matters
- Expert knowledge of subchapter C rules
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
- Familiarity with tax accounting issues pertinent to corporate transactions
- Proven project management and coordination skills
- Demonstrated strong communication skills to communicate complex tax issues, opportunities, and risks to non-tax experts in a clear and concise manner
- Expertise with subchapter K and U.S. international tax rules
Job Description Summary
This role will report to the Head of Tax and be responsible for supporting the Business Development function and oversee global tax planning. This role will serve as a subject matter expert and focus on execution, planning and idea generation across the full life cycle of strategic transactions. This executive role will lead tax-sensitive transactions and advise in varying capacities on GE Aerospace’s internal restructurings, legal entity and organization chart, IRS audits or other scrutiny of prior transactions, and matters generally within the tax M&A expertise.Job Description
