      The PRN transcription clerk will operate under general supervision and follow prescribed procedures for: scanning, copying, sorting, compiling, and distributing patient reports. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

      Requirements

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Scans laboratory reports into the correct patient’s chart in EMR and distributes reports to the appropriate transcriptionist.

      • Reviews the EMR for correct information in patient’s chart, making sure every piece of patient information belongs to the appropriate patient and is in the correct folder.

      • Communicates with off-site and on-site staff to ensure proper handling of patient information.

      • Maintains electronic health records (EHR) and ensures proper file organization.

      • Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and protects confidential patient information.

      • Flags and clarifies unclear or inconsistent information with appropriate staff.

      • Performs miscellaneous clerical duties such as typing or processing forms; preparing and filing multiple types of reports, paper or electronic; photocopying necessary materials.

      • Provides ongoing support to the Transcription team.

      • Seeks to identify and resolve issues through teamwork and collaboration.

      • Compiles booklets for sending out to patients.

      • Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.

      • Follows all Clinic policies and standard operating procedures.

      • Completes duties on site or off site, as assigned, with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.

      • Accomplishes other duties as assigned.


      Required Skills/Abilities

      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

      • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.

      • Strong organizational, time management and attention to detail skills.

      • Possess problem-solving skills, be self-motivated, and strive for professionalism.

      • Basic knowledge of medical terminology is a plus but not required.

      • Ability to work in group setting as well as work independently.

      • Typing skills of 55 words per minute.

      • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.


      Education and/or Experience

      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one-year medical

      experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      • Previous experience in a medical office, physician practice, hospital or acute care

      setting preferred.


      Physical Requirements

      • Must be able to lift, carry, move, push, and pull occasionally up to 25 pounds.

      • Able to type on a keyboard regularly.

      • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and/or sitting at a desk.
