- Provide one-on-one academic advising to prospective transfer students regarding educational pathways between postsecondary institutions and Brock University;
- Support students through the transition between an Ontario postsecondary institution and Brock University;
- Mentor and monitor the progress of all transfer students and redirect students to a variety of additional support services available on campus where appropriate;
- Create, attend and present information at outreach group advising sessions specifically designed and delivered to transfer students;
- Attend recruitment events including the Ontario University Fair, Fall Preview Day, Spring Open House, Orientation Sessions and Outreach initiatives, to promote transitional programs to prospective students;
- Collaborate with campus partners to identify new and/or enhanced transfer student programming opportunities;
- Conduct market research surveys to better understand transfer student needs and enhance the transfer experience;
- Develop a heightened presence for transfer support services on campus through the creation of promotional materials and web content;
- Monitor and report statistics relative to predefined objectives to assess outcomes, determine gaps, and recognize new opportunities to enhance pre-existing programming.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience with academic and/or student success counselling, in a post-secondary environment;
- Knowledge of academic advising, including advising models, theories, and techniques, and counselling theories;
- Understanding of the differences and similarities between university and college practices, policies, protocols and governance structures;
- Understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA);
- Experience working with computer software and systems including MS Office, internet search engines, web applications, social media platforms, and registration systems;
- Strong verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Solid presentation and public-speaking skills;
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, as well as part of a team, to identify and conceptualize enhanced transfer student programming opportunities;
- Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community;
- Sound judgement, resourceful, and ability to address inquiries with confidence and accuracy;
- Excellent record keeping abilities;
- Excellent attention to detail with strong research and analytical skills;
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Post-secondary transfer-related experience preferred;
- Understanding of Brock University’s academic policies and practices, as well as a familiarity with undergraduate programs, course offerings, course calendars, prerequisites, class scheduling, transfer credits, advanced standing, and articulation agreements.
- Job Grade J, Salary Scale ($52,920-$90,720);
- Target Hiring Range: $52,920-$58,500 ;
- Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan.
- Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.

About the Role:
The Transfer Academic Advisor is responsible for providing real-time academic advising through a variety of informative and targeted services to the undergraduate student population, specifically to students who are considering a transfer or who have recently transferred to Brock University from another Ontario university or college. The position provides support and develops educational programming for transfer students in understanding University rules, program and graduation requirements, program options and academic and non-academic services and supports for transfer students across campus. As the primary point of contact for transfer students during the admissions, transfer credit evaluation, course planning, course registration and campus arrival phases, the Transfer Academic Advisor facilitates a seamless academic transition from prospective to current student. The position is also responsible for collecting quantitative and qualitative data pertaining to transfer student interactions, for reporting purposes.The Transfer Academic Advisor will:
