Hours: Substitute Driver for AM & PM Split Shift Location: 4919 Coldwater RdPay $16.20-$19.00
Summary: Transportation Drivers work with individuals who have intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities. Drivers transport individuals from home to day programming and back home using an agency transportation vehicle. They must provide transportation while
ensuring individual safety of participants on the road and while using van lifts. Drivers must be aware of the special medical needs of participants assigned to their route.Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies
· Completes all required documentation related to the job in a efficient and timely manner
· Ensures all required insurance and license requirements are valid and active at all times
· Reports any issues or incidents to their direct supervisor in a timely manner
· Adheres to ESArc’s Human Resource policies and performs other duties assigned
2. Engage in respectful communication, treats individuals with dignity and honors individuals rights
· Uses person-first or preferred language when appropriate
· Maintain confidentiality and support privacy at all times
· Maintain the property of the agency and of the individual(s) supported
· Provides crisis intervention/supportive counseling, assists with supervision of clients as needed.
· Know, advocate and respect the rights of individual(s) supported
3. Support People to be safe and have optimal health and wellbeing
· Ensures all participants are safe while being supported
· Promote an environment that is welcoming for all supported participants
· Provide passenger assistance (through door through door)
· Has knowledge of operating lifts and securing all safety restraint devices
· Follows universal precautions, CPR and first aid procedures.
· Has the ability to communicate by phone or radio when needed
4. Positively represent Easterseals Arc.
· Uphold agency values and follow agency policies and procedures
· Maintain confidentiality of records/information according to HIPAA, State, Federal Laws and guidelines
· Maximize and responsibly utilize agency and community resources
· Serves as a liaison to participants, families and community resources
· Makes good and timely decisions
· Will maintain a professional demeanor inside and outside of the organization when representing the agency
Qualifications:
· At least 18 years of age
· High School diploma or GED required.
· Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities; prefer 2 years.
· Must have knowledge of directions and street locations in the Fort Wayne area.
· Must be able to drive agency transit vehicles up to 15 passengers.
· Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks
· A valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving history required
· Basic language, written and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation
· Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior and/or medical concerns
· Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration and Positive Behavioral Support Training and other training's as deemed necessary by the agency
Working
Conditions: The Incumbent performs duties according to standard division policies, procedures, goals and objectives exercising discretion and independent judgment. Incumbent effectively applies guidelines to individual cases and circumstances.
Incumbent performs duties in a bus/transit vehicle with minimum supervision. Incumbent frequently works independent to safely transport participants to and from their respective services. The incumbent must have the ability to follow written and verbal direction while understanding geographical locations. Incumbent may work with violent/physically aggressive participants and responds to emergency situations involving potential physical harm to self and others. Incumbent may work extended hours, evenings, and occasionally travels out-of-town as needed.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT- . Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 75 lbs, walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions. Transportation Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Transportation Drivers must be able to safety maneuver large vehicles up to 15 passengers
