Position: Transportation ManagerReports To: Senior Director, ADS
Department: Adult Day Services
Location: Regional - Hagerstown, Baltimore, or Silver Spring
Status: ExemptPosition Summary: Easterseals Serving DC MD VA is hiring a Transportation Manager to oversee all aspects of Easterseals Adult Day Services Transportation operations. Must have a valid Class C/non-commercial driver’s license in good standing current state and current DOT driving certificate. Knowledge of current DOT driving standards and regulations required.
Essential Functions:
•Assigns and monitors routes and bus routes daily and makes necessary adjustments for overloads, safety, lateness and related problems.
•Oversees the daily operations of the bus routes; monitors GPS tracking and transportation software.
•Responsible for the hiring, termination, coaching, and evaluation of the Transportation Department staff.
•Manage and approve staff time sheets.
•Plans, directs and manages use of buses including assignment of bus service and community outings.
•Plans, supervises and coordinates the safe, effective and efficient development of bus routes in transporting participants
•Evaluate road conditions during inclement weather and decide when to modify/cancel operations or routes.
•Reviews complaints from administrators, caregivers and others regarding day-to-day transport operations.
•Trains, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of staff; and performs related supervisory functions.
•Utilize Transportation Management software for planning, scheduling, communicating, data entry and other relevant transportation applications.
•Ensure drivers are trained, licensed, tested and certified as required by Department of Transportation regulations and federal/state law to drive vehicles.
•Communicates with departmental and center staff, administrators, and outside entities in a timely manner to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues, concerns and
questions regarding transportation services, participant behavioral problems and special accommodations for participants (if applicable).
• In coordination with Human Resources, maintain and update policies, procedures and handbooks per federal/State regulations and school directives and guidelines.
• Manage department budget ensuring that expenditures are appropriate and necessary and within the budget allocations; forecast department needs and regularly review and report on the status of the budget.
• Plan mechanical and preventive maintenance of buses. Arrange for vehicle rotation to allow for preventive and corrective maintenance in compliance with the Department of Transportation and other government regulations.
• Receives and responds to drivers' accidents. Assist drivers in completing injury and accident reports. Contacts Risk Insurance carrier in reporting accidents within 24-hours of occurrence.
• Alerts manager and Center Director when there are safety breaches or incidents.
• In coordination with the Center Director and Senior Management, provides timely electronic communication regarding inclement weather or other issues impacting transportation delivery services.
• Maintains confidential transportation personnel records including license and certificate expirations, periodic driving records, medical expirations and training hours required for the renewal of the bus driver certificate.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of records including average daily attendance, bus trip data, driver route assignment and other related information.
• Responsible for preparation of documentation and reporting of data to the Department of Transportation and other relevant agencies.
• Participate to the development of risk management policy associated with Transportation
• Maintain positive and professional working relations with State Inspectors and outside vendors.
• Operate and driver buses when needed.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• GED or High School Diploma.
• 5 years professional experience.
• Current Class C/non-commercial driver’s license in good standing (annually reviewed).
• Clean criminal record.
• Current CPR and First Aid.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with participants, families, care providers, colleagues, community referral sources, and the general community.
• Ability to deal with and manage physical and cognitive impairments of participants boarding and exiting the vans.
Internal Relationships and Language:
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
• Aware of potential hazards or problems within the environment and seek out supervision promptly. Report issues, successes, and concerns promptly to Activity Director.
• Work as a team member with Center Management.
• Work collaboratively with all center staff.
• Aware of confidentiality of client information.
Computer Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
Physical Demands:

• Able to maneuver various pathways for entry / exit into locations.
• Able to lift, carry and move a variety of items such as supplies, equipment, therapy equipment and supplies, approximately 50 lbs or less.
• Able to assist participants in and out of the vehicles.
