      The Transportation Planning Engineer will work directly with PD&E and Planning project managers performing the technical engineering responsibilities related to transportation planning, PD&E, and corridor studies for clients such as FDOT, counties and municipalities. Experience in roadway alternatives analysis during the execution of PD&E or corridor studies is required. The candidate experience should include analysis of intersections, interchanges, and/or access management studies. Knowledge and/or experience with traffic operational analysis is beneficial. The candidate will interact with a wide cross section of disciplines including traffic planning, design, environmental and structural in a fast-paced planning and engineering environment.

      Responsibilities

      Responsibilities:

      • Conduct technical aspects of roadway and multimodal alternatives analysis related to typical sections, geometric alignments, creative intersection/interchange concepts, cross sections, profiles, and cost analysis.
      • Interact with the traffic safety and operational analysis engineers on corridor studies and multimodal studies.
      • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of engineering documents including feasibility studies, public involvement material, and preliminary engineering reports.
      • Coordinate with WGI's subconsultants and team members.
      • Conduct project administrative tasks such as preparing meeting notes and progress reports.
      • Interact with the public and attend periodic project public meetings in various Florida cities.
      • Support marketing efforts related to new project pursuits.

      Qualifications

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college,
      • Demonstrated 3 to 5 years in progressively responsible experience;
      • Florida Engineer Intern Certificate is required.
      • Florida Professional Engineering Registration not required. The candidate is recommended to pursue PE license at the earliest time possible.
      • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is a plus;
      • PD&E or corridor study experience required:
      • Proficiency in MicroStation is required.
      • Demonstrated participation in professional organizations a plus;
      • Understanding of traffic operational and level of service analysis is a plus.
      • Ability to become proficient as an engineering task lead;
      • Microsoft office skills – including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
      • Exceptional oral and written communication skills;
      • Travel to other office or project locations may be required.
