      JOB SUMMARY

      Manages all aspects of the routing function, including personnel, and the coordination of the transportation fleet equipment, and the permitting and licensing of the transportation fleet equipment. Actively participates in project management and the regulatory compliance and safety responsibilities of the Distribution Services Department.

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Prioritizes and schedules Transportation Analysts for ProForma and rerouting of centers

      • Supervises the Routing function of the department

      • ravels to the distribution centers to work directly with VP-General Managers and transportation managers to develop new routes based on seasonal changes and major gain or loss of business.

      • Work with VP-General Managers and other center managers regarding any other operational business

      • Coordinates the purchase and transfer of new and existing transportation fleet equipment among all SYGMA distribution centers to provide maximum utilization of the same equipment

      • Develops new environments to assist the Marketing department in preparing pricing quotes for potential new customers

      • Operates the truck routing system to provide improved routing of existing customers and pro forma data for the Marketing department

      • Maintains and updates environments to assure proper operation of the computerized routing system

      • Performs Annual Compliance Reviews

      • Works with Central Management in all areas of the preventive maintenance program, which will provide accurate data on the performance of equipment and record preventive maintenance calls

      • Works with Transportation Managers in all areas of their operation, especially in the areas of routing for new and existing customers

      • Performs the duties of the Labor Disturbance Coordinator as assigned

      • Management of Fuel Tax reporting and returns

      • Organizes and chairs the annual transportation managers' conferences

      • Performs other duties as assigned


      QUALIFICATIONS

      Education

      4-year business-related degree

      Experience

      • 2 years experience in PC applications in a distribution environment

      • Must be proficient in the use of PC and various software applications

      • Must have prior experience managing, motivating, and evaluating personnel


      Physical Demands

      • Work is primarily sedentary in nature

      • Heavy communications with other personnel and outside vendors by telephone

      • A substantial amount of key entry required on the PC

      Mental/Visual Demands

      Must be able to read at distances close to the eyes, with or without correction

      Working Conditions

      Most of the day is spent in a comfortable office environment. Significant travel is required by air and personal vehicle

      Equipment Operated

      Automobile, Personal Computer, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, Quatro Pro, Paradox, TRIPMASTER, TRUCKS program, and assorted utility packages, such as Norton, LapLink, etc.

      Valid driver’s license and certificate of auto insurance as defined in Company Policy.
