- A great attitude, and strong work ethic to succeed in the Streets Division.
- The ability to work within a team setting or carry out assignments independently.
- The ability to learn and retain technical details pertaining to the application of pavement markings, and/or the fabrication and installation of traffic signs.
- The ability to read and interpret signs and striping plans.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in the application of pavement markings, and/or sign fabrication and installation is a plus.
- The willingness to listen, learn, and meet the physical and mental challenges that face the Signs and Markings group on a daily basis.
- Education: High school graduation or equivalency
- Experience: 1-2 years’ experience. Moderate previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions
- Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort.
- Must pass ATSSA Traffic Control Technician or IMSA Work Zone Safety
- May be required to pass ATSSA or IMSA signs and pavement marking courses.
- Depending on assignment, an employee may be required to have, or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement, or a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.

The purpose of this position is to perform journey level work in the maintenance and repair of the City’s traffic sign inventory, and all public pavement markings. This is accomplished by performing skilled maintenance and installation, plan and specification review, entry-level inspections and monitoring inventory. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.
