      This is a position-specific recruitment and is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) position/function only.       The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland.       Nature of Work: The Travel Plaza Coordinator is responsible for tracking customer inquiries and responses, action items, events, insurance renewals, financial data, and other contractual requirements related to Maryland’s two full-service travel facilities, The Maryland House and The Chesapeake House Travel Plazas. Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

      • Tracks insurance certificate renewal dates for Travel Plazas, Sunoco, and fueling franchise owners by confirming receipt of current certificates and correct coverage amounts year to year and document any variances;
      • Tracks environmental inspection dates to confirm receipt of biannual and annual reports of fuel tank and ground water testing;
      • Takes notes of customer complaints, ascertain repetitive complaints, and alerting the Travel Plaza Administrator where escalations are immediately needed;
      • Monitors all items in need of replacement/repair to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner;
      • Attends weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational and executive meetings and takes notes;
      • Codes invoices and tracks for approval/payment status;
      • Inputs monthly revenue financial data into Excel schedules; and
      • Tracks customer service emails to ensure Areas USA complaints are handled timely by MDTA/Division of Communications, Maryland Department of Transportation Governor’s Office email boxes.

      This position will report directly to the Travel Plaza Administrator. The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, MD. Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position. Employee may be required to work outside normal office hours in case of Administrator absence and/or to meet deadlines.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

      Experience: Five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. **Two years of this experience must include developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software systems.

      1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

      2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

      3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

      4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
