- Provide case management services to students whose disruption to academic progress is caused by a broad range of difficulties that may, at any point, rise to higher levels of concern.
- Triage the concerns that are reported to SOS by campus partners, which are related to the health, safety, and well-being of undergraduate students.
- Triage incoming referrals, Care reports, and calls about students of concern and assign to case managers for follow-up and support.
- Monitor follow-up support to high-risk students by coordinating closely with various units in and outside of SOS, including Academic Deans and Advisors, Residential Life, the Counseling Center, Student Health and Wellness Center, Student Disability Services, and other similar offices.
- When necessary, coordinate with off-campus treatment providers, hospitals, and/or emergency contacts.
- Responsible for the management and update of all Maxient forms SOS uses.
- Responsible for updating the SOS website as processes and other information changes.
- Consult regularly with the Associate Director to ensure proper caseload management.
- Create weekly caseload reports for the SOS leadership team.
- Must be able to work independently, make decisions and problem-solve.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated commitment and success working in a multicultural environment with a critical understanding of social justice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crisis response, student conduct, student affairs administration, and/or case management support teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Public Health or a related field.
- Three years of related experience.
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, or similar fields.
- Working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, including FERPA, HIPAA, ADA, and Title IX.
- Ability to work with and assist others in navigating complex systems.
- An understanding of treatment programs, and mental health terminology.
- Knowledge of medical privacy guidelines and the ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information with relevant parties.
- Working knowledge of Maxient software or similar case management software.
- Experience triaging cases in a clinical or nonclinical setting.
- Experience working in nonclinical case management or similar student support services within a higher education setting.
- Experience with data collection and analysis and the ability to utilize data to support and inform the work of an office.
Student Outreach and Support (SOS) is a staff of Case Managers providing one-on-one support, including interventions, advocacy, referrals, and follow-up services for undergraduate students who are experiencing significant difficulties related to mental health, physical health, family emergencies, and/or other areas of concern.
We are seeking a Triage Specialist for Student Outreach and Support, reporting to the Senior Director, provides non-clinical case management services to ensure high-risk students are connected to appropriate levels of care; and supports the effort of the SOS team in the University's management of high-impact, complex students of concern. This includes supporting students during hospitalization and working with colleagues across campus and hospital affiliates to support a smooth transition back to the living and learning environment.
The Triage Specialist manages the concerns that are reported to SOS by campus partners, which are related to the health, safety, and well-being of undergraduate students, and manages incoming Care referrals. Also, they manage sensitive and private data for the office, and all of the tasks associated with creating and tracking cases, updating case notes, closing cases, and all of the overall data/record-keeping management for all cases managed by SOS staff.
