      About us

CHFT has 2 main sites, Ophthalmology being based in Acre Mills Out-patients, Huddersfield and Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax.

The Trust is one of the most digitised in the country having moved to Cerner Millenium Electronic Patient Records (EPR) in 2017. Along with using new upgraded Medisight and an electronic referral portal (EyeV) from community Optometry, this makes us currently one of the most paper-light and digitised Ophthalmology Departments in the country.

The department is undertaking a number of transformational projects internally and working in partnership with WYAAT on a number of sub-specialty projects to standardise pathways of care. We also continue our collaborative working with local Optometrists and the CCG to deliver new and patient centred community schemes to meet the demands of our local population.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
