      Job summary

      We are looking to appoint one Trust doctor (SHO equivalent) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Derriford Hospital Plymouth. The post is fixed term for 6 months with an immediate start.

      The post offers experience at SHO level in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and is valuable for a doctor wishing to broaden their clinical experience with a view to pursuing a career in General Practice, Emergency Medicine and many other specialties, as well as for a doctor looking to pursue a career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The successful applicant will join a team of F2 doctors and GPVTS doctors to provide a junior tier Obstetrics & Gynaecological rota.

      Main duties of the job

      • Supporting ward rounds with the week-on-service consultant.
      • Care of ward based patients.
      • Assessment of patients in Triage and on the Day assessment unit.
      • Assessment of patients with Gynaecological problems in the Emergency Department
      • Assisting in theatre as required.
      • Communication with other health care professionals both within and outside the hospital.
      • Participation in the department's academic, teaching, and clinical governance activities.
      • You will participate in the departmental junior out-of-hours rota and will work both weekday and weekend duties.

      • You will be resident in the hospital when providing out of hours duty. Working patterns are fully compliant with current European Working Time Directive and New Deal requirements.
