      The Role

      Due to continued growth, Ventia are looking to engage an experienced Turnaround Manager to work on our resources contracts reporting directly to the Contract Director. This role will see you manage and support the Turnaround team with all aspects of the upcoming Turnaround and future Turnaround scopes of work. Initially based in our East Perth Office. You will then transfer to a site roster leading up to the Turnaround.


      You will be responsible to both lead the team in the preparation and planning phase of the Turnaround in accordance with the Ventia 7-Phase Turnaround Process, and operational control of the Turnaround Execution including Client Relationships, Superintendents, Supervisor, Labour, sub-contractors, and industrial relations in order to achieve on site contract performance, including safety, schedule, budget and quality.

      What you will be doing

      • Maintain a strong relationship with stakeholders and internal, external staff and adhere to contract requirements, particularly in the planning and preparation phases
      • Development & management processes incl systems for managing late & emergent work
      • Manage the Turnaround at all stages in accordance with the Ventia 7-Phase Turnaround Process, and aligned with the client IMPACT systems as appropriate, identifying any areas requiring actions, and developing plans in place to resolve.

      Turnaround Preparation and Planning

      • Provide leadership to the planning team to develop the detailed Turnaround execution plan that defines the organisation, roles/responsibilities, scope, targets, contracting strategy and critical activities
      • Establishment of planning and cost control systems and processes & develop & implement cost effective sub-contracting strategies
      • Fully understand the entire scope of the Turnaround, the critical path activities and any potential problem areas
      • Monitor industrial relations in the field and report IR issues to Ventia and Client Management
      • Directly supervise the Superintendents and Sub-contractors to ensure that delays resulting from interface issues are minimised and to resolve priority conflicts between requests

      Duties include but are not limited to

      • Identifies resources needed to support PRE-TAR Phase and execution
      • Strategize and support client development of the logistics plan to meet Turnaround (TAR) event needs.
      • Validate contractor / third party execution estimates
      • Lead competency checks of all TAR blue-collar front-line Supervision incl Sub vendors
      • Support / Review compilation of TAR execution procedures
      • Responsible for the construability workshop and inputs to all work packages and to the Integrated schedule
      • Responsible for ensuring that all pre-turnaround work is completed before pull feed.
      • Responsible for all Turnaround work is completed in the execution Phase as per the integrated schedule in execution window.
      • Effective direction of activities for multiple coordinators and supervisors in PRE-TAR & Execution Phase
      • Review Primavera Schedule and validate Work scopes are built into the schedule
      • Providing safety leadership to crews using personal experience and knowledge to promote proper and safe methods of performance
      • Directly report to key stakeholders as follows
        • PMC discipline Execution Leads
        • PMC Central services Execution Leads
        • Client Execution resources

      Skills & Experience

      • Engineering degree qualified in engineering, accompanied with extensive experience in turnaround/ shutdown / project experience in a similar industry, or suitable trade qualification background with at least 10-15 years’ experience in PMC / EPC management leadership roles.
      • Experience of managing large complex Turnarounds within the Oil & Gas industry in a downstream environment such as LNG and Oil Refining.
      • Excellent attitude towards health, safety & environment
      • Ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
      • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and achieve performance targets
      • Excellent written and verbal communication
      • Provide site leadership during the Phase 6 execution phase
      • Knowledge of the Turnaround IMPACT process
      • Able to support the completion of key client contract KPI’s
      • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, people management, and client interfacing
      • Familiarity with key planning software such as Primavera P6
      • Ability to understand and critique complex Execution schedules
      • A High Level of Financial Acumen, including cost engineering and budget management

      Please note for this role we only offer FIFO from Perth Airport. If you reside outside of WA you would need to be willing to get yourself to Perth to fly out.
