This position supervises multiple functions, locations or shifts within Distribution and ensures daily goals and scheduled tasks are completed within an expected time period according to safety expectations, standard work process and and company policies and procedures. This position is also expected to lead process improvement initiatives at a departmental level and work cross functionally with other departments to achieve business objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Review daily schedule to plan and communicate work and associate assignments for assigned shift or functional area to ensure productivity and costs meet projections.
Assume responsibilities of the DC Manager role as needed.
Anticipate and determine causes of delays in operation of shift or areas of responsibility and takes appropriate action to meet shipping schedules or performance guarantees.
Report promptly to the Distribution and other Supply Chain leaders and key internal or external customers when unscheduled disruptions occur, estimate time of delay, form alternative plans and methods and communicate when operations will be resumed.
Work cross-functionally with internal business partners to support strategic goals of company.
Prepare required documentation for shift and respond promptly to inquiries about productivity or non-standard events.
Maintain attendance, performance and training records.
When results are substandard or processes indicate opportunities for improvement, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and communicate results to departmental associates.
Lead departmental projects to develop, test and implement process improvements
With leads, ensure new hires and temporary workers are trained on company, building, department and standard work processes and expectations.
Monitor and audit floor work to ensure that it is being performed properly and materials are being used as they should be. Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identify the best people for the job.
Job Description/Position Summary With Manager, conduct performance reviews and take corrective action when necessary to recommend additional training, discipline, or developmental opportunities.
Maintain and track training and development plans to ensure goals are met within established guidelines and time period
Comply with and enforce all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Manager and/or Human Resources.
Interview applicants for department positions jobs and recommend candidates to department manager for hiring.
Ensure "clean as you go" good housekeeping standards are maintained across building and the department.
Contact engineering and maintenance departments to schedule maintenance and repairs to equipment in order to maintain safety and efficiency objectives. Use Lock out/Tag out procedures.
Assist in maintaining service levels by providing direct support or by directing resources to meet daily business needs.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Ability to work extended hours to meet company needs.
Ability to operate scanning equipment and work safely with power tools.
Ability to communicate effectively and present information to management and associates in individual or group settings.
Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English. Bilingual skills a plus.

Ability to handle confidential information and lead by setting a good example (role model) - behavior consistent with words.
Ability to plan and prioritize one’s own work and that of the team is necessary.
Ability to make decisions consistent with department guidelines and company policies.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, linear and square footage, circumference and volume using units of weight measurement and distance.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
