      Position description

      The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach on-site and online courses for our Project Management Program. We seek applicants with current subject matter expertise and a passion for teaching in the following areas:

      • Introduction to Project Management
      • Project Execution and Risk Management
      • Project Planning and Procurement
      • Risk Management
      • Program Management
      • Agile Project Management
      • AI in Project Management
      • Other Related Topics

      Instructor duties include but are not limited to:

      • Adjusting syllabi and course materials based on feedback
      • Preparing and delivering course content and assessments
      • Designing engaging classroom activities
      • Staying current in the field
      • Using expertise and resources to enhance curriculum
      • Communicating objectives and grading policies
      • Responding to student inquiries promptly
      • Employing inclusive teaching methods
      • Evaluating student achievement and grading
      • Posting grades within two weeks of course completion
      • Handling inquiries and retaining records as per policies

      The department values diversity and excellence through research, teaching, and service. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. The pool remains open until March 31, 2026, and applications are reviewed as needed. Note that applying to the pool does not guarantee a position.

      Screening begins immediately after the review date, with some positions starting as early as summer 2025. Appointments are offered per course and may be renewed based on need, funding, and performance.

      Qualifications

      Basic qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field or a professional certification in a relevant area.

      Additional qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the relevant field.

      Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or over 5 years of experience, familiarity with LMS tools, and current PMP certification.
