      UK Country Medical Director ViiV

      While we have been improving lives of People Living with HIV for 30 years, this is an especially exciting time to be at ViiV, as we evaluate novel approaches to treatment and prevention that could further reduce the impact of HIV on individuals and communities.

      As our UK Country Medical Director you will provide significant leadership of the UK Medical Affairs teams in order to deliver the broader company innovation/ performance/ trust/ culture (‘IPTc’) objectives. Through both line reports and broader aligned team members, to develop and deliver aligned UK Strategic and tactical plans that contribute to the delivery of the company goals. Acting as a member of the ViiV UK Leadership Team, the Country Medical Director (CMD) will be responsible for ensuring appropriate oversight and governance of daily activities aligned with ViiV values and expectations.

      Core responsibilities

      • To provide oversight, advice and quality assurance within ViiV UK with a key focus on brand franchise strategy, activities, medical planning, training, budget management and overall operational excellence

      • To provide a strategic vision in shaping the Medical organization in the country, providing network and process solutions that enhance the satisfaction of internal and external stakeholders’ experience

      • To guide the medical team in their development of plans on external facing activities with specific reference to interactions with and data presentations to Key External Experts (KEE’s), government bodies and commissioners, formulary decision makers and national and local decision makers. This will be to ensure that KEEs and policy makers have accurate and proportionate scientific information to shape the UK environment in line with scientific evidence and business strategy relying on technical expertise and influencing skills.

      • As a member of the European Medical Lead Team, to share accountability for achieving the RDGM Directorate business objectives. The CMD will maintain and leverage effective relationships with above-country RDGM colleagues to ensure that UK needs are appropriately reflected in European plans. Additionally, you will ensure insights from customers are fed back to the organisation to both impact local promotional activities but also to ensure the direction of Phase II and III development plans being conducted by R&D are planned and generated to facilitate UK market access.

      • To engage with investigators to assess requests for support and champion agreed requests through the ViiV approval system. Maintain continued dialogue with investigators with regards to progress of ViiV sponsored initiatives and ensure that patient benefit and safety are paramount in any ViiV sponsored initiatives.

      • To ensure compliance and adherence through scientific engagement internally and regulatory bodies externally and to provide leadership in meeting the requirements of the ABPI Code of Practice, all SOP’s and GCP guidelines and their implementation in a consistent manner across ViiV through taking a leadership position on all ethical matters.

      • To partner closely with aligned Clinical Research team to ensure UK clinical sites are represented, to maintain relationships with EEs, to build and spread endorsement of ViiV and its products through discussions on available evidence and data gaps. To investigate and propose strategies to address data gaps with UK/European teams to ensure the Integrated Evidence Planning process within ViiV fits with and provides an integrated European position.

      • T o lead a dynamic, diverse team providing clear objectives coupled with strong development plans to ensure individuals reach their full potential.

      Basic Qualifications:

      We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

      • Medical Doctor or Pharmacist – (GMC or GPhC registered) or PhD

      • Working knowledge of HIV therapeutic area is advantageous

      • Breadth of clinical knowledge to apply themselves to new areas as appropriate to ViiV’s growing HIV medicine portfolio

      • Well-developed presentation skills

      • Proven project management capabilities, sharing ability to lead, bringing others with them using creativity to solve problems

      • Proven leadership experience and ability to lead teams and change

      • Ability to understand business objectives and in the context of the external environment

      • Ability to work to SOP’s and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g. ABPI Code of Practice)

      Personal attributes

      • Ability to work in a fast moving environment with a blend of science and business acumen

      • Self motivated, flexible and goal oriented

      • Requirement to be an inclusive team player, communicating at all levels

      • Ability to network and build relationships (across ViiV UK, Europe, Global, R&D and externally) and parent companies, GSK and Pfizer thus achieving credibility and influence

      • Superior organisational skills
