      About the role

      DS Smith are currently recruiting for a UK Quality Manager, who will bring the voice of our customers to the quality of the products we produce. Working closely with our site General Managers, Operations Excellence Leads, Production Managers and other Quality Managers you’ll ensure that the teams are working to high quality standards to meet targets and develop and implement a standardised Quality Management Systems

      As UK Quality Manager you will develop and train our teams across sites and take lead on investigations into customer complaints, specifically relating to quality issues, so they are fully versed in quality and able to avoid issues and complaints before they arise, ensuring that we maintain external accreditation

      In this role you will need to: work to Health, Safety, Environment and Risk standards; act as a principal point of contact for product/service quality and hygiene issues; ensure quality data is provided and advise on relevant changes to legislation; produce systems, audits and reviews in line with BRC, ISO9000 and requirements;

      Key accountabilities

      Responsibilities include (but not limited):

      • Improve and monitor Operational legal and regulatory compliance oversight at the UK level through continuous improvement of lean business systems to drive operational standardisation.

      • Development and implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) at UK level to drive site operational standardisation.

      • Drive and support the adoption of UK level legal, regulatory and QMS into the individual site level.

      • Develop and improve site level assessments and monitoring for the adoption of these UK systems.

      • Develop, implement, and improve these systems through coaching techniques and developing standardised UK and site improvements team.

      • Works closely with UK Operations and Site Management.

      • Improve the overall business QMS, Compliance and Quality Operational performance and efficiency

      About you

      • Degree educated in a relevant subject field (STEM)

      • ISO lead auditor qualified

      • Familiarity with BRC standards and Hazard Analysis (HACCP/HARA) for packaging

      • Experience with Quality Management Systems and root cause analysis

      • Good analytical, communication, time management and process improvement skills

      • Ideally experience working with Lean/Six Sigma or improvement methodologies

      • Experience in coaching techniques and developing standardised improvements.
