      Overview

      Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).       Responsibilities

      THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.

      Undergraduate Information Technology Interns will work under the direct supervision of a manager & mentor and will be provided with hands-on participation in ongoing projects at one of the most unique experimental sites in the United States, or one of our outlying location sites.

      This internship will be located at our Remote Sensing Laboratory at Nellis Air Force Base (Las Vegas, Nevada).

      Duties and Responsibilities :

      • Contribute to mobile satellite, telecommunications, and network solutions in a team environment to meet mission demands for the Global Mission Communications Programs Division (GMCPD) and the Emergency Communications Network (ECN) Program.
      • Support senior GMCP and ECN Program personnel during drills, exercises, and real-life missions.
      • Support cybersecurity monitoring and documentation activities as part of the ECN cybersecurity team.
      • Learn about support and troubleshooting for the installation, operation, build, and maintenance of mission response infrastructure equipment, software, hardware, video teleconference, audio-visual and next generation communications kits.
      • Participate in training activities and exercises as required.
      • Perform within change control and ticketing system environment.

      Qualifications

      Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

      • Completion of the first year in a Computer Science degree program at an accredited institution.
      • Must be actively enrolled in school.
      • Must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. (upload of current transcripts required)
      • Must have:
        • Planning/organizing skills and initiative
        • Good written and verbal communication skills
        • Able to follow directions, both written and verbal, and work independently to meet deadlines and commitments as well as part of a team.
        • Team player with good customer service skills.
      • Strong computer skills are desired, including MS Office and computer programming.
      • Strong knowledge of Excel preferred.
      • Experience installing hardware and software for personal computing needs preferred.
      • Excellent verbal and written communications skills desired.
      • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional, effective manner.
      • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
      • Must have a valid driver's license.

      Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

      Hourly range for this position is $15.00 - $22.46.

      Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
