      Schedule:

      The average time commitment is 10-20 hours per week. Weekend hours are the majority of the work, although some availability on Monday - Friday between 9am - 5pm is needed, particularly during training. A long-term commitment to the lab and willingness to work during summers and breaks is desired, with opportunity for increased hours during the summer.

      Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

      $10.00-13.00

      • Undergraduate student currently enrolled at UW-Madison in good academic standing
      • Willingness to commit at least one year to working in the lab

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      The qualified applicant will be responsible, reliable, and able to work independently after completion of training. Some experience with lab/sterile techniques and basic solution preparation is preferred but not required. Good communication, organization, and record-keeping skills are essential. Exceptional performance in this position can lead to increased pay or an opportunity for an independent undergraduate research project.

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      The stem cell and regenerative medicine research lab of Dr. Timothy Kamp in the School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a highly motivated undergraduate student in the biological sciences to fill a research assistant position beginning in the Spring 2024 semester. The research assistant will primarily work in the stem cell culture room for routine cell culture, perform lab maintenance, and contribute to stem cell related research projects. The lab is located in WIMR II (Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research).

      • General lab maintenance, managing disposable stocks, autoclaving
      • Preparation of cell culture reagents, media, plates
      • Human stem cell culture and differentiation to cardiac lineages
      • Maintain lab notebook and documentation of cell culture work

      Physical Demands:

      Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs and frequently perform repetitive motions (e.g., pipetting).
