Job Description

- Be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving, and underwriting routine individual consumer requests and products with few deviations and within company and industry guidelines
- Review credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, financial statements, or other supporting documentation to recommend or approve requests within deaccessioning authority levels by way of automated scoring system or traditional underwriting
- Assist with the calculations and preparation of reports for review
- Respond to customer inquiries and credit decisions
- Ensure credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards
- Contact customers and partners to gather information to make appropriate decisions, and explain rationale behind credit decisions
- Present recommendations for resolving situations and exercise some independent judgment while developing understanding of the Underwriting role
- Provide information to team, managers, and customers to related inquiries
- 2+ years of Underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Credit card underwriting and/or Personal Lending underwriting experience
- Home Equity experience
- Manual underwriting experience
- 6+ months training or leadership experience
- 1+ year of customer call center experience
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
Obtain delegation of authority within 60 days of start date
This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
Training will be 7 am – 4 pm PST for 5 weeks (tentative).
Business hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 5 am – 7 pm PST, and Saturday, 6 am – 5 pm PST.
Schedule after training will be 10 am - 7 pm PST. Schedule will include working every 3rd Saturday.
Hours may change due to business needs and may include overtime and working hours beyond 7 pm PST.

- Evaluating and ensuring overall credit card line increase transaction is accurate, complete, and compliant
- Apply knowledge of standard underwriting procedures, creditor financial analysis techniques
- Review and perform accurate analysis of financial documents
- Review and analyze credit bureau reports and interpreting the data
- Calculation of applicable ratios to determine affordability, credit utilization, asset coverage, etc.
- Review supporting documentation for truthfulness and accuracy
- Perform extensive research to resolve complex underwriting issues.
- Implementation of fraud detection and prevention techniques
- Understanding of the use of automated scoring system
