- Ensure that loan transaction meets investor assumption transfer of ownership guidelines
- Ensure that loan request meets program and product specifications or counter-offer, when appropriate
- Communicate decision of loan (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate individuals within JPMorgan Chase
- Uphold fair lending practices of JPMorgan Chase Mortgage
- Meet productivity targets for productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Contribute continually to the success of the business, customers, profitability and controls
- Mentor and train underwriters promoted or hired into department
- Serve as a backup to the UW manager
- Contribute to the initiatives that improve our business
- Minimum of 3 years Conventional underwriting experience
- HUD Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA credit
- Expertise in, Agency and Jumbo guidelines
- Demonstrated high productivity and quality in prior role in a consistent manor
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team, and coach/mentor others
- Experience in creative solutions, exceptions justification, and customer focus
- Demonstrates understanding of the end to end origination and/or assumptions process flow
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, decision making, and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of Mortgage insurance policies
As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for the analysis of underwriting file for Capacity, Capital, Character, Collateral, and Condition. You will also be responsible for the communication of the outcome of that analysis. This includes ensuring that loan request meets program and product specifications or counter-offer when appropriate. You must follow investor guidelines in the process to ensure compliance. Meet compliance and regulatory requirements. In addition, you will communicate decision (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate individuals within JPMorgan Chase, uphold fair lending practices of JPMorgan Chase Mortgage, meet targets for productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction, and perform second review of contract underwritten denials.
