      The Underwriting Department is currently seeking an underwriter who would like to contribute to our members' and clients' peace of mind by ensuring they're well protected in the event of an unexpected situation. We're working on updating our tools and systems over the next few years to optimize and simplify our processes so that doing business with Desjardins is always a simple and people-focused experience. Join a team that will help you develop your expertise in underwriting and life and health insurance, as well as your critical thinking skills. At Desjardins, we give you the tools and resources you need to help you diversify your skills and pursue your career goals. More specifically, as an underwriter, you will be required to:

      • Analyze medical, personal and financial information to assess the overall risk to the organization in accordance with applicable standards and practices

      • In the event of non-standard decisions, negotiate with reinsurers to find solutions to obtain the best possible decision for our members, clients and partners

      • Communicate in writing or by phone with stakeholders

      • Help develop operational processes and modifications to the sector's computer systems

      • Make decisions and be able to justify them to members, clients and partners.

      What you bring to the table

      • Bachelor's degree in a related field

      • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in individual insurance underwriting

      • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

      • Knowledge of French is required

      • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

      • Knowledge of underwriting standards and governance documents
