Join us as an Underwriting Specialist to step up to a key team leadership role that will drive business growth.

      Make your mark in Underwriting.

AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. We are reimagining how we help customers to manage risk, transforming our operating model, and reshaping our role responsibilities and career pathways. The goal is to unlock the full potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.

In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing an existing renewal book and soliciting new business opportunities. This role includes constant interaction with top nationwide brokers. AIG’s client base consists of Fortune 1000 companies and any customer seeking solutions for international casualty exposures. Through this role, underwriters gain access to a highly evolving and dynamic atmosphere that involves exposure to major influencers in the insurance, government contractors, and international business fields.

How you will create an impact

      • This is a key leadership role in our Foreign Casualty team. You will take ownership of achieving goals and outcomes. You will be tasked with overseeing a range of programs and processes and handling complex underwriting.

      • You will thrive by successfully balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, judgment, and a risk mindset. It will be essential to build effective relationships with brokers and deliver a high standard of customer service as an example for the team to follow.

      • People management is a key aspect of the role. You will promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and learning while mentoring and developing colleagues through effective leadership, role modeling, and training programs. You will aim to facilitate personal growth and career development in support of succession planning.

      • You will also play a key role in new business development, including attending broker events and building new relationships across the market.

      What you’ll need to succeed

      • Proven underwriting experience in Foreign Casualty and a successful record of selling products to clients.
      • Deep technical expertise.
      • Proven people management skills and a record of developing more junior colleagues.
      • The ability to analyze financial statements.
      • Strong communication, networking, and relationship building skills.
      • Good organizational and time management skills.
      • Customer and sales-orientated behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.

Ready to lead by example? We would love to hear from you.
