      The Unit Manager's responsibilities are divided into 3 major categories: As Team Chairperson, the Unit Manager coordinates and facilitates the development and implementation of all programs using an interdisciplinary approach.AsProgram Monitor, this position continuously evaluates each individual’s total program, assessing needs, writing results of reviews, initiating and following up on recommendations. As Administrator/Supervisor, the Unit Manager has 24-hour responsibilities, and direct administrative responsibility for all staff assigned to the unit on first and second shifts, including Health Care Technician I’s and II’s. Position also has administrative responsibilities involving the entire building such as oncall responsibilities and making rounds.

      This is a QIPD position, which requires a bachelor’s degree to meet the ICF/ID Federal regulations.

      Scheduled work hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1 altered shift per week), Monday – Friday.

      Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities.

      • Knowledge of Person-Centered programs and their implementation procedures

      Management Preference:
      • Ability to write Person-Centered plans and reports to document individual treatment plans.
      • Ability to coordinate the activities of professionals of various disciplines.
      • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
      • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with individuals with I/DD, professional and nonprofessional staff.
      • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form and develop cooperative working relationships with staff,individuals, and their family members.
      • Ability to supervise a team of staff that implements Person-Centered plans for individuals with I/DD.
      • At least two years of experience working with persons with ID or other developmental disabilities.
      • Experience working in a facility with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
      • Working knowledge of up-to-date best practice in health, mental health care practices and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
      • Knowledge of Person-Centered thinking as related to supporting people with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirement test, and successfully complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques, body mechanics and lifting.

      Bachelor's degree in a human services or related field(Counseling & Guidance, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling,Social Work, Special Education & Nursing)
      from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience providing professional or direct services (either paid or volunteer) in a setting that serves individuals with disabilities.
