- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN) as a registered nurse
- BLS-C (HCP) Certification
- Retiree RN looking to provide support to staff at NSH
- Previous experience in formal or informal leadership, including but not limited to, charge RN, resource RN, or other leadership roles preferred
- Tertiary care experience in medical-surgical areas preferred
- Critical Care, IMCU, or Emergency Care experience an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize own work and that of others
- Ability to use a collaborative approach to problem solving, and conflict resolution
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate commitment to collaborative practice and learning
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to use Microsoft word, outlook and excel
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

About the Opportunity
The Clinical Resource Team is responsible for just-in-time support of the various in-patient teams at the Halifax infirmary site of the QEII. The Resource Nurse will provide mentoring, support, and engage in conversation about clinical decision making with in-patient unit staff, as needed, to help direct care, and support unit staff and teams in moving care forward for patients within their care; this will include positive impacts on care plans which support timely discharge, patient flow, and resource utilization throughout the services.
This is a leadership role that requires a strong knowledge of medical surgical nursing and general flow of patients throughout their admission, a strong work ethic, good organizational ability, as well as exceptional communication skills. The Resource Nurse will support staff in liaising with medical doctors, patient flow managers, charge nurses, social workers, continuing care providers, and health service managers.This role provides support to all NON-ICU/ED inpatient areas at the HI site.

Compensation and Incentives
$40.74 - $50.58 hourly
($52.35 hourly with 25 years of RN experience)
