Position Summary Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies Located on the downtown Orlando campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies opened in 2006, providing programs and services focused on the unique needs of women and newborns. Specialized care covers all facets of women's health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. The hospital is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care and is certified in perinatal care by The Joint Commission. Welcoming nearly 14,000 babies each year, the hospital’s 350 beds include 142 neonatal intensive care beds, making it one of the largest neonatal intensive care units under one roof in the country. As a sister hospital with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer for Children, the hospital was included in the 2021-22 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings by U.S. News & World Report, recognized for expertise in Neonatology, and, together with Orlando Health ORMC, was included in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021. Women’s GYN Unit The mission of the Women’s GYN Unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital is to provide a high level of care with an emphasis on clinical excellence and a spirit of service to women with gynecological and obstetrical health care needs. The Women’s GYN unit is a 30-bed inpatient unit which provides skilled nursing care to women of all ages including but not limited to the following: gynecological and oncological medical and surgical admissions, high-risk obstetrical admissions, high-risk postpartum admissions, as well as antepartum patients up to 22 weeks gestation. The unit is equipped with twenty progressive care beds, and we are able to care for those patients requiring PCU status and/or telemetry monitoring. The nursing team collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team including physicians, social work, case management, physical therapy, dieticians, spiritual care and pharmacists to meet the needs of our patients. Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies Women's GYN Unit is seeking Unit Secretary. The Unit Secretary responsible for routine clerical/secretarial tasks for persons in a nursing unit. Responsibilities Essential Functions Acts as a receptionist on the unit, greeting and directing visitors, personnel and others in a courteous and informative manner. Transcribes physicians’ orders promptly, accurately and completely according to policy/procedure. Communicates consultation requests to physicians or therapists promptly and accurately. Performs data entry and assembles, compiles, and breaks down medical records. Prepare/copy designated medical record/ information for transfer to other facilities. Answers phone calls, routes callers, assist in pages, and takes messages and provides routine information to callers. Answers patient call lights in person or via intercom; fills request or refers to appropriate person promptly. Communicate effectively in all interactions. Works under the direction of the charge nurse. Assists in making appointments for patients. Working knowledge of office/departmental equipment. Submits work orders for necessary housekeeping, maintenance, biomedical or other work orders needed. Collaborate in partnership interdepartmentally to promote and provide a safe environment. Utilize compassion to create a therapeutic environment. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. May have limited access to areas storing medications. Maintains pre-established par levels of all unit office supplies. Assists in the stocking of both unit and office supplies. Monitor time and attendance through Kronos (or timekeeping system). Prioritizes workload to manage multiple priorities. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards including Federal, State, local and The Joint Commission.Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Maintains a clean, safe and organized unit. Qualifications Education/Training High School diploma or equivalent. Keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
