      About Houston

      ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

      What role you will play in our team

      The P&GA Advisor will handle a wide range of activities to advance ExxonMobil’s Upstream strategy and provide guidance to the company’s global affiliates. Areas of responsibility will include external stakeholder relations and communications, crisis communications and issue advocacy. The successful candidate will assist in the development and delivery of high-impact communications strategies and tactics on behalf of several Upstream value chains and disciplines. The position plays a key role coordinating an innovative, multidisciplinary team that operates in a fast-moving environment.

      What you will do

      • Develop and implement proactive communications strategies and plans to support the company’s objectives
      • Provide strategic counsel to business-line leaders, including briefing and preparing executives for government meetings, community interface or media interviews
      • Proactively identify emerging issues of potential impact to the organization and facilitate necessary responses
      • Define external relationship plans and collaborate with team members to ensure positive engagement with external stakeholders
      • Mentor and support team members to assist with development and sharing of communications best practices
      • Represent ExxonMobil at external meetings and engagements
      • Be prepared to effectively support communications in a crisis situation

      About you

      • Bachelor’s Degree (in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, advertising, political relations, governmental relations, international relations preferred); advanced degree in a communications or policy-related discipline preferred
      • More than five years’ relevant experience in areas such as communications, marketing, public policy issues management, media relations, government relations, community relations, journalism, writing or other related areas
      • Demonstrated experience successfully developing complex communications, advocacy, or political campaign
      • Excellent written and editing skills and a demonstrated track record of achievement in internal or external communications
      • Ability to work and deliver under pressure; experience in handling communications during a crisis
      • Ability to convey complex, legal or scientific positions in a concise manner to a variety of external stakeholders
      • Experience in developing speeches, executive letters, publications, blog posts and other similar materials
      • Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to present effectively to various groups of stakeholders

      Preferred Knowledge/Skills/ Experience

      • Creative problem-solving skills to identify solutions that engage stakeholders with diverse viewpoints
      • Strong project-management skills, with an ability to multi-task and remain flexible when priorities change
      • Ability to quickly understand, assimilate, and communicate complex issues
      • Familiarity and interest in issues related to energy, economics, the environment, corporate citizenship, and government relations
      • A team player with a positive, collaborative and proactive attitude
      • Culturally sensitive and ideally familiar with the working environment of a large international organization
