Job No: #2305 Posting Timeline: January 19 - 28, 2024 Position: Urban Leader Fellowship - External Candiates Only Location: Central Administration Starting Date: Flexible Start Date Weeks per Year: 52 Salary: Per appropriate placement on the salary schedule ($81,222-91,342) and opportunity for additional project-based stipends Bargaining Unit: Meet and Confer Position Summary Urban Leader Fellows will participate in a one-year special assignment placement in the Lansing School District. Fellowship participants will be paired with advisors from offices throughout the district for a rotation in various departments. The goal of these placements is to facilitate the fellow in gaining expertise in transformational leadership by exploring the following topics including but not limited to: special populations, evaluation, assessment, school improvement, EDPs, pupil accounting, school-based budgets, categorical funding, attendance, and social-emotional learning. Urban Leader Fellows will engage in job-embedded professional learning by leading the completion of ad-hoc projects under the direction of an advisor. Regular support will be provided by the program coordinator as well as opportunities to collaborate with other fellows. Additionally, several high-quality external professional development opportunities will be provided. The Lansing School District suite of leadership programs provides opportunities for current and new staff to engage in experiences that expand the knowledge and skills of our leaders. The REAP Grant sponsored fellowship is designed for leaders new to the Lansing School District family. The fellowship provides these highly-skilled leaders with the knowledge necessary to successfully utilize the systems, processes, and resources specific to Lansing School District. Successful participants may be given preferred consideration for Lansing School District leadership positions upon completion of the fellowship, but placement is not guaranteed. Primary Responsibilities Completion of ongoing projects and presentations related to data-driven research gathered during placements at various offices in the Lansing School District. Collaborate with other Urban Leaders Fellows to foster professional learning and individual growth. Attend leadership-related meetings and sessions as needed, which may include: Administrators’ meetings, Board of Education meetings, Instructional Council meetings, Professional Council meetings, and REAP Advisory Board sessions among others. Submit documentation as requested regarding fellowship to the Program Coordinator and/or REAP Project Director. Maintain professional confidentiality around sensitive or restricted information. Follow district protocols as directed. Provide strategic support to school-level leadership while assigned to various district offices. Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of experience in education, including experience in school and/or district administration. Minimum of 3 consecutive years of Effective or Highly Effective Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate or eligible to obtain. Master’s degree in Education related field. Demonstration of successful school and/or district leadership. The Lansing School District accepts on-line applications only.
