Job summary
As an Urgent Care GP within the Integrated Front Door of Musgrove Park Hospital, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team, including Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs), emergency medicine doctors, physiotherapists, and healthcare assistants. The role focuses on assessing and treating general practice presentations in the Emergency Department, offering a varied and stimulating workload.
Shifts are self-rostered and range from 8 to 10 hours, typically from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts. There is no administrative workload, and enhanced pay applies for evening and weekend work.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties: Assess and manage patients streamed to Urgent Care, collaborating with other clinicians to ensure effective treatment.
Patient Care: Primarily handle general practice presentations, with potential to assist in emergency care when necessary.
Shift Management: Work within a rota covering 0800-2300, ensuring flexibility to support service demands.
Professional Development: Engage in CPD activities, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Governance and Safety: Participate in clinical governance activities, follow protocols to ensure patient safety, and maintain data protection standards.
Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, carers, and colleagues, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
Research and Development: Involvement in research initiatives and audits is encouraged and supported by the department.
