      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Review clinical documentation and apply correct coding and modifiers for complex specialty surgical procedures and specialized services
      - Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations and documentation guidelines
      - Abstract information from patient medical records and assign correct codes for inpatient and outpatient services
      - Monitor coding and billing activities for compliance with federal and state laws
      - Serve as a resource for coding leadership and assist in training and mentoring coding staff

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - High school diploma or GED
      - Minimum of 4 years of professional coding experience in ICD-10-CM or CPT
      - Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT)
      - Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and federal/state insurance billing laws
      - Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals at all levels

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Accredited coding program, associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field
      - Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and EPIC systems
      - Additional coursework in anatomy/physiology and medical terminology
      - Familiarity with OPPS guidelines and medical necessity requirements
      - Membership in the American Academy of Professional Coders
