      US Oncology Medical Affairs Medical Head

      Join us at AstraZeneca in the Oncology Business Unit as the US Oncology Medical Affairs Medical Head. This role offers an outstanding chance to manage a team of medical professionals, develop and deliver coordinated Medical Affairs Plans, and contribute to the strategic direction of assigned scientific and/or sub disease areas within the US Medical Affairs Franchise. Reporting directly to the Franchise Head, you will be a key member of a strategic leadership team driving medical excellence across the whole Franchise.

      Accountabilities:

      As the US Oncology Medical Affairs Medical Head, you will be responsible for the disease area medical strategy and oversee the creation and delivery of the medical plan. You will lead and encourage a team of Medical professionals, lead all aspects of talent management, oversee financial planning across all assets and indications within the designated franchise, and develop comprehensive engagement strategies with customers and key partners. You will also represent AstraZeneca in joint alliance meetings and ensure that our US strategy aligns with global strategy/requirements.

      Essential Skills/Experience:

      • A Doctorate in Medicine (M.D, D.O), PhD or PharmD degrees or equivalent will be considered plus validated experience.
      • 10+ years of Oncology therapeutic area experience, including 5+ years in an HQ Medical Affairs role
      • 4+ years in a Medical Affairs strategy setting role
      • 3+ years line management experience
      • Extensive experience of Medical Affairs function within a pharmaceutical industry
      • Extensive experience in relationship and partner management (3P’s: Payer, Provider and Patients)
      • Effective matrix leadership experience
      • Experience working at the medical marketing interface
      • Experience in Evidence generation planning and clinical trial design
      • Proficiency in spoken and written English
      • A track record of building and maintaining a deep continued connection to medical practice/healthcare delivery
      • Collaborative/matrix leadership skills with a focus on leading diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results in shared goals
      • Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters to our partners
      • Strong Financial/Budget Management and Project Management skills

      Desirable Skills/Experience:

      • Extensive knowledge of the latest technical, regulatory, policy and patient–centric developments
      • Experience delivering country medical affairs plans
      • Board Certification, experience/certification in oncology
      • Experience developing and/or launching a new pharmaceutical product
      • Global experience within the pharmaceutical industry
      • Solid understanding of FDA requirements
      • Experience working in US market
