- Partner with Head of Executive Compensation Advisory to assist on, and develop skills to provide, compensation guidance for executives of public, private, portfolio and not-for-profit companies
- Support Head of Executive Compensation Advisory on reviewing and advising on employment arrangements, wealth transfer planning, equity plans, deferred compensation, qualified and nonqualified plans
- Develop knowledge and skillset to transition to independent work advising clients and colleagues on compensation-related topics, including but not limited to concentrated equity positions, pre-transaction planning for private companies in transition, deferred compensation, negotiating severance packages, near-retirement financial strategies, preparing personal finances pre-IPO, and managing concentrated stock positions
- Partner with Private Bankers to advise executives in areas including optimization of compensatory awards, management of concentrated stock positions, deferred compensation, option exercise strategy, and tax planning
- Monitor executive compensation landscape, trends, and laws to produce written thought leadership around current insights
- Analyze stock grant agreements and deferred compensation plans to determine impact to wealth and provide advice to private bank clients
- Assist in training financial advisors on how to speak to clients around executive compensation and conduct internal trainings on the common attributes and taxation of stock awards
- Meet with clients and engage on executive compensation questions
- Manage library of educational materials and publications for client engagement
- 2+ years’ experience practicing law as an Executive Compensation & Benefits attorney, an equivalent in-house role, or in executive compensation consulting
- Bachelor’s degree; JD strongly preferred
- Ability to partner closely with business partners including but not limited to members of the integrated team, partners in the business, and external clients
- A strong self-motivator with a “can-do” attitude and the ability to adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills, as well as strong written skills
- Organized with the ability to lead process management
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, teamwork-focused environment
- Proactive, accountable, and detail-oriented work ethic
- Willingness to travel (mostly domestic) as needed
