Job Description

- Writes clear, concise, and compelling copy that simplify the customer experience and keeps users engaged, while minimizing errors and confusion
- Uses writing skills and content design knowledge to create copy across web, mobile apps, & in-store environments, and is empowered to make decisions that ensure compliance & consistency
- Collaborates with designers, researchers, product managers, and developers – influences and adapts to stakeholders and their feedback
- Plans, prioritizes, and organizes a high volume of work and coordinate to meet deadlines
- Proofreads and self-edits to deliver work that is accurate, accessible, and be open to share your work and thought process with team members
- We encourage candidates with either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply.
- 2-3 years of UX copywriting experience, online retail preferred
- Experience writing interface copy (dialogs, tooltips, errors, instructional copy, etc.)
- Strong collaboration skills and experience with UX designers, researchers, product, and developers
- Familiarity with user testing, and an understanding of how to use data to inform copy decisions
- Writing portfolio/samples of UX writing work demonstrating strategic and creative strength
- Knowledge of design process, product development cycle, and desire to take project ownership
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical information, issues, and solutions to all levels of business
- Passion for defining new processes and shaping user experiences
- Understanding of accessibility standards and how to write for screen readers.
- Aptitude to be flexible and proactive within a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as part of a team
- The ability to think comprehensively about copy (i.e. the content strategy vs. just one piece of messaging)
- Familiarity with agile/iterative work
- Proficient in Figma and knowledgeable about UI wireframing

Job Overview
Our UX Copywriter will develop strategic, meaningful, and persuasive copy that effectively guides users through product experiences. You will own the copywriting process from initial concepts through production and implementation. Drawing from rich customer insights and your own curiosity about what motivates shoppers, you’ll craft nuanced copy that builds on our brand strategy by showing that Macy’s understands what customers want and need from us. Through mastery of our distinctive voice and an eye for detail, you’ll engage audiences with an authentic, conversational style in digital, emerging, and traditional media. You’re curious, innovative, and a conceptual thinker who thrives on the collaboration and healthy debate required to make great work.
You’ll join a team of UX writers and collaborate closely with UX Design, Product, UX Research, Developers, and other relevant teams at all business levels.
