- Follows directives, policies, and strategic guidance set by senior leadership and IST Infrastructure Management.
- Works independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Troubleshoots and resolves network infrastructure issues in both data center and client‐side environments, following hospital policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participates in network upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting efforts outside of normal business hours when required.
- Maintains accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and issues using manual and automated tools.
- Adheres to ITIL framework best practices for tracking, detailing, and resolving network support issues.
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA and PHI regulations when configuring and managing networks.
- Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business administration, Math or Electrical Engineering, or another related field required.
- Three (3) years of experience in Information services technology providing computer networking support required.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco network hardware, including Firewalls, Routers, Nexus and Catalyst Families, Wireless LAN Controllers, or comparable networking technologies.
- Working knowledge of IP networking protocols, network security tools such as Cisco ISE, and common network security best practices.
- Hands‐on experience implementing and administering Cisco network devices is required. Proficiency in routing and switching concepts, VLANs, STP, VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, and VRF. Familiarity with network security standards and best practices.
- Knowledge of network architecture design is preferred.
- CCNA or CCNP certifications are strongly preferred.
- Understanding of ITIL framework methodologies for tracking and resolving network‐related issues. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
- Experience in the healthcare field is preferred.

About the Role
Under the direction of IST Management, the User Support Specialist II (Network Services) is responsible for maintaining and supporting the University Hospital LAN/WAN environment. This role provides network infrastructure support, incident management, and problem resolution while assisting with the implementation of new networking technologies. The specialist ensures network stability, security, and efficiency in accordance with hospital policies and industry best practices.

The expected salary range for this position is PS/28S: $ $80,000.00 - $96,576.00 - $115,150.00 in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
