      TYPICAL DUTIES

      Work indoors and outdoors, some lifting required, walking and standing for prolonged periods, some work in adverse weather conditions

      Read and interpret maps and drawings, translate to conditions in the field

      Locate high voltage cable, water lines, steamlines, gas lines, sewer lines, telephone and communications lines, duct banks, electric/water/gas taps to buildings.

      Deal with and cooperate with various campus personnel in locating utilities

      Coordinate field findings with computer mapping database and visa versa

      Routine accounting and budgeting requirements to account for time and assign charge code

      Driving to locations to perform tasks, lifting, carrying and operation of locating equipment

      Routine maintenance and cleaning of locating equipment

      Attend coordination meetings on project sites to discuss and plan outages

      Coordinate efforts with shop personnel as required.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      High School Diploma and some college.

      Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, CAD, etc)

      NC drivers license.

      2 years locating experience

      Utility experience is a plus but not a requirement.

      Education

      Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with course work in skilled crafts or trades.

      Experience

      Work requires 3years of technical experience in utility conduit OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE location, including: map/plan reading; locating equipment operation. Valid N.C. driver's license required. Some heavy lifting may be required.
