Job Description

- Assist in carrying out daily inspections, monitoring and maintenance of all equipment relating to water and wastewater utility systems in our service area;
- Assist in performing routine maintenance on equipment such as pumps, blowers, motors, etc.
- Assist in creating and maintaining detailed logs on inspections, monitoring and maintenance;
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sampling of the water and wastewater utility systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Perform all other duties as required to ensure the safe and reliable operation of utility systems of all Bluestem operations;
- Assist in repairs to small irrigation and water lines;
- Assist in replacing water meters when required.
- Post-secondary education, training and/or certifications in any of the following will be considered:
- Water Treatment
- Water Distribution
- Wastewater Collection
- Wastewater Treatment
- Valid AB Driver's License and current driver's abstract
- Field experience in plumbing, electrical or mechanical trades;
- Experience in construction, fusion, geothermal, geo-exchange, and fire hydrant maintenance/servicing;
- Knowledge of performing regular inspections of the sewer collection system, locating and inspecting manholes and the sewage lift station, and facilitating repairs as required;
- Knowledge of performing regular inspections of the water distribution system, locating, inspecting and repairing valves and PRV stations;
- Experience in collecting and testing drinking water samples.
- Ability to read water meters, keep maintenance records and update plans;
- Good mechanical aptitude;
- Competent in use of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Overview
Bluestem Utilities, a division of Nexus Water Group has an opportunity for a Summer Utility Operator in Training. Reporting to the Area Manager, an Utility Operator in Training performs under general supervision, operates water analysis and treatment equipment to ensure water treatment, distribution, and/or wastewater treatment is performed as per regulatory, environmental and safety standards.
Location and Schedule
This position is located in Calgary, AB. This is a contract position and the successful candidate will work out of our Calgary branch. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required .Some travel may be required. Must be available to work shift work; weekend scheduling may be required.

Compensation: $60,800 - $78,900 yearly salary
