- Responsible for operating a variety of equipment utilized in dredge mining
- Perform daily Pre/Post shift inspection of vehicle and work area
- Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and report needed repairs to the supervisor
- Perform repairs and routine maintenance on dredge equipment
- Perform repairs and routine maintenance on dredge conveyor equipment
- Observe visual and auditory signals during vehicle operation
- Use Skid Steer, loader and shovel for cleaning conveyor line
- Experience with water craft, john boats, cables , pipeline & diesel engines.

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
- Experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment and/or equipment used processing plants
- Able to complete maintenance as needed
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to weld a plus
- Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
- Possess effective coordination and communication skills
- Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision
- Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions
- Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations
- Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production
- Swimming skills a plus
Martin Marietta is hiring for a Utility Person position to be responsible for the safe operation of a clamshell dredge and support equipment at Irwindale , CA - Sand and Gravel Quarry.

Work Environment
The work environment for this position consists of being outdoors daily with summer and winter temperature changes. The position can range from being on land working out of a truck to being on our lake working off a boat or floating conveyors.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work. u00A0 The position is a Night Shift spot u2013 typically 9pm to 6am. Sunday night thru Friday night.
