About the MED Program:
The Medical Education Development (MED) Program is an intensive summer educational experience and challenging opportunity to gain insight into the realities of attending medical or dental school.
The MED Program was established in 1974 and is designed to increase opportunities in the health professions for individuals who demonstrate educational promise and commitment to a health career but who have lacked opportunities in the past in moving toward their professional goals.
The Primary Purpose of the position: The Program Coordinator provides assistance for routine functions and activities for the MED Program. In addition to limited budget and administrative duties, the Program Coordinator also coordinates academic and mentoring support to scholars at the direction of the Associate Director of Scholastic Enrichment and Equity. Coordination includes but is not limited to scheduling academic skill development workshops, mentor and counseling sessions, and supervising program teaching assistants at the direction of the Associate Director. Core Competencies: Must be able to show demonstrated success in planning and coordinating program activities that increase the likelihood of first generation and low-income students seeking health professional degrees, enrolling into medical education programs; demonstrated commitment to educational opportunity; and demonstrated experience working with broad student populations. Must have superior coordinating, written, and oral communication skills; ability to communicate the overall vision and philosophy of the program; superior listening and critical thinking skills are necessary; and ability to multi-task. Education requires a bachelor’s degree, at least 2-3 years’ experience of administrative experience with a similar type of pipeline programs. An equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.

With respect to the Program:
· Assist the MED Program administrators and faculty
· Assist in the coordination of the application & interview process for students & TAs and serve as a point of contact for the MED Program.
· Assist in the preparation, and dissemination of academic policies and procedures.
· Advise MED students regarding administrative procedures of the program.
· Serve as point of contact for prospective and current students regarding the MED program and program regulations, and admissions.
· Be the administrative link between the program and studentsSpecial Physical/Mental Requirements
