- Provides support to the leadership team through project assessment and approval, planning, recruitment, facilitation, task execution, tracking, budgeting, and/or communication support.
- Analyzes financial and operational reports including short-term and long-term resource needs and adjusts staffing and resources appropriately.
- Conducts regular project review sessions with the leadership team to monitor progress against timelines including issue audits and mitigation steps.
- Independently retrieves, interprets, and analyzes data from a wide variety of sources.
- Develops and reviews analytical work products for accuracy and completeness and helps frame the analysis for leadership decision-making.
- Proactively identifies changes in work scope and ensures appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external clients to reassess, renegotiate, and amend the scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts, and budgets.
- Facilitates the evaluation of in-process and completed projects and workflows to support future process improvement.
- Supports the leadership team with scheduling internal and external meetings related to strategic initiatives, attending meetings, taking meeting minutes, maintaining relevant relationships, and tracking follow-up items.
- Maintains a team calendar of project deadlines, reporting deliverables, and advisory committee meetings to ensure alignment across all ongoing projects and workstreams.
- Acts as lead for knowledge management by ensuring all supportive documents and presentations are up-to-date and communicating any updates across the team.
- Effectively represents the Director of the UVA Latino Health Initiative inside and outside the UVA Health community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

- Spanish fluency and understanding of Latino culture
- Prior experience working in the local Latino community

The Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a motivated candidate to work as a Latino Health Initiative Project Associate or Project Manager starting July 1, 2023. The level of Project Associate or Project Manager will be determined by qualifications. The Project Associate or Project Manager supports the implementation of key projects by developing action plans along with key stakeholders, monitoring their progress against shared deadlines, and providing additional targeted capacity to leadership team members in executing those plans. This implementation support can take the form of, but not be limited to, analytical facilitation, budgeting, change management, project management, process improvement, implementation of project evaluation tools, and research. In the course of that support, the Project Associate or Manager will be expected to elevate issues and barriers to success to leadership for resolution.
Potential projects may include onboarding new independent practices to support assigned UVA Health initiatives, execution of quality improvement initiatives with individual practices/groups, and/or implementation of new IT solutions for UVA Health informatics and care management teams, etc.
The Project Associate or Manager may supervise project support staff and lead teams over whom they exercise no formal supervision.
This is a 20-hour/week part-time position with benefits. The possibility of a hybrid work environment will be considered. This is a 2 year position with possible extension based on funding.

The anticipated start date is July 1, 2023. The position will remain open until filled. This is a part-time, benefitted position at 20 hours/week. This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A health screening is required. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.
