Collaborate with UX designers, data scientists, product managers, and engineers to create innovative solutions that meet user needs
Create wireframes, prototypes, and other design artifacts to communicate design concepts to stakeholders
Conduct usability testing to validate design concepts and identify areas for improvement
Lead design thinking workshops and collaborative design sessions to identify customer problems, generate solutions, and integrate cross-functional insights into the product development process
Develop interaction prototypes, presentations slides, and other documents to communicate design strategies to project teams
In addition to research, collect other types of data to inform design decisions/solutions (e.g., surveys, analytics dashboards, accessibility reviews)
Lead synthesis sessions with your team, following agile and lean methodologies, facilitate whiteboarding sessions, workshops, and brainstorms
Create artifacts to share out design research synthesis and decisions
Create user journeys and flows to capture current and future states of user pathways to influence planning of MVPs and prospective releases
Partner with the Accessibility team to ensure designs are compliant
Create and present concepts/deliverables to your working team and our stakeholders
Conduct handoffs to developers through tools like Figma and Zeplin
Contribute to the UX/UI of our foundational design system, when relevant work collaboratively with our Content, Design and Engineering Team ( CoDE ) to ensure brand and pattern alignment
Plan and execute user research studies, including usability testing, surveys, and interviews
Analyze and synthesize research findings to identify user needs, behaviors, and motivations
Create personas, user journeys, and other artifacts to communicate research insights to stakeholders
Analyze business and technical requirements, partner with Product, Engineering, and relevant stakeholders to help plan, manage, implement portfolio strategy
Collect and analyze data to derive actionable insights, facilitating informed design decisions and strategic planning
Strong communicator who takes initiative in talking to users, presenting in research sessions, and effectively sharing findings with the team and stakeholders
Collaborate with the team to promote communication and synchronicity in planning across design, product, and engineering
Contribute to the overall design and UX strategy for our product designs, including feeding into and refining a design system to facilitate a unified experience across all our products
Document and present UX/UI and design updates to stakeholders and users
Collaborate and take direction from multiple stakeholders and disciplines to achieve an impactful experience
Participate and be vocal in agile ceremonies to ensure design needs are met
Nurture a culture of user empathy and deep curiosity that enables us to build simple, intuitive products for our customers
Partner with the team to effectively plan, roadmap, and support Agile maturity
Substantially improve the team’s productivity and quality by enhancing tools and processes
Advise other teams on UX research projects and assist with establishing UX research governance
Assist in the identification and resolution of production issues
Self-manage workload and obtain necessary requirements and acceptance criteria needed to complete work
Coordinate with cross-functional team to ensure timely delivery of design artifacts
A strong interest in (and preferably experience with) AI technologies, particularly as it relates to machine learning and new generative AI tools
A bachelor’s degree in a related field (computer science, interaction design, HCI, industrial design, information science, social sciences, graphic design, etc.) and/or equivalent years of work experience
5+ years of professional experience of relevant Design experience
Documented experience in designing for large, content-rich websites and applications; proven solutions that met users’ needs; Experience designing enterprise products is a huge plus
Extensive experience in information design and user scenarios
Broad knowledge of digital interaction design patterns, Web site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation on various platforms (Web, mobile, tablet)
Extensive experience with user-centered research, such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews
Understanding the physical, cognitive, cultural, and social factors that affect design decisions
Familiarity with front-end coding technologies and data modeling is a big plus
Strong communicator with an ability to demonstrate both leadership and understanding with respect to project partners; Self-managing, but also used to working within a team
Possess a ‘Product Design’ mindset, who owns the end-to-end design delivery: from strategy to comps
Must be proficient in all industry-standard software and applications, such as Figma, FigJam, Miro, Zeplin, Jira, Confluence, etc.

About the Team
The Design Team is a close-knit group of about 40 members with a passion for empowering students to plan for their future. The College Board is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer who is passionate about research and about applying new technologies to real-world problems. You will be part of the GenAI studio Team, supporting the development of user-centered products and services that meet the needs of students and teachers who use our services through the use of AI technologies. The GenAI Studio is a new initiative co-led by the Strategy and Data Science teams to responsibly experiment with generative AI with the goal of capitalizing on innovation that advances our work with students, educators, and other members .
You will be working alongside a diverse, cross-functional team of strategists, technologists, project managers, product owners who are driven to solve the most impactful and interesting problems at the organization. The Strategy Team drives the College Board's strategic vision and collaborates with leadership, partners, and business units to enhance educational opportunities for historically underrepresented students. The Data Science team leverages data analysis, machine learning, and software engineering to provide valuable insights and tools for optimizing test delivery, development, and security across the organization.

You will also help us build and maintain a state-of-the-art UX research infrastructure and platform that supports rapid prototyping and testing of UX solutions.

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $90,000 - $119,000 College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
